The end of the year…

Schools in Mumbai have just closed for the summer holiday, which extends until mid June.  ALF has closed too, as students take a break during the summer heat, and some families head back to their villages for the long holiday.  The last couple of weeks have been bitter-sweet; we celebrated the graduation of our pioneer class, but had to say some other goodbyes–to our 8th standard students, and our wonderful History and English teacher Mangala.

As you know, we love celebrating and getting dressed in our finest outfits, so we organised a bit of a party to mark these milestones.

Students were responsible for organising the the party, including speeches, dancing and food.  A great time was had by all!

Aarti (9th standard) will return to ALF in June, whilst her sister Akshata (10th standard) moves on to Junior College.

Now that the holidays have begun, girls are enjoying a much-deserved break.  We’ll be back in June with our new 8th standard class, and continuing 10th standard students.  Thank you for following our journeys in learning and leadership this year.  We appreciate your support!
