Have you ever had a wonderful idea, and then been overwhelmed with all the complexities of executing it? What did you do–did you choose a new idea, or just figure out how to keep going anyway? These are some of the dilemmas that our Avasara Leadership Fellows currently face, as they think through how to execute some very exciting ideas they’ve come up with over the last couple of months.
Since September, girls have been brainstorming problems in their communities and thinking of solutions for these problems…these days, ALF is abuzz with talk of various Leadership Projects, their merits, their drawbacks, and their impact.
After weeks of discussion and debate, girls have formed into four major thematic groups:
- A literacy group, committed to starting a library in Dharavi and other literacy initiatives
- A focus group looking at the Status of Women in India
- An group looking at practical ways to reduce plastic bag usage
- An education content group developing online resources to support students studying the Maharashtra State Curriculum
Girls are in the beginning stages of executing projects, and are very enthusiastic about using the projects to make an impact in their communities.
Watch this space for updates as we fail, learn and succeed in our Leadership Projects over the coming months!
