We’ve just had our first ALF trip! On a bright Sunday morning we all assembled at Marve Ferry in Malad–a good hour’s journey from our usual meeting place in BKC–ready to take the ferry across to Gorai Beach.
After the short journey across to Gorai Beach and a hearty breakfast, we had a game prepared by Nutan and Uroosa, who had spent Saturday working hard to get the game ready and the paperwork printed. Girls were challenged to find and present a long list of objects in just a few minutes. The teams were formed by Stephen ahead of time, and comprised of members who don’t usually get the chance to work together….after a few moments of awkwardness, girls were all racing around the resort searching for the objects required.
Next, girls got into a big circle to play Ultimate Ninja. They were bemused as their teachers demonstrated their ninja moves, and soon got into the game and enjoyed plotting surprise ninja attacks!
After this, we played a variety of games, including Tank and Driver (played in pairs) and Capture the Flag (in fours). Girls learned about teamwork and trust as they struggled to make the right strategic decisions for each situation.
The day passed quickly and ended with a quick visit to the beach and an impromptu biology lesson as we discovered thousands of hermit crabs exposed by the receding tide.
It was a great day bonding and learning about each other. Girls had fun playing games and at the same time learning important skills such as teamwork. We can’t wait for our next ALF trip to have more fun and learn something new!
